Richard Deming (Facilitator, Alternatives to Violence Project)
Mr. Deming received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1995 from Metro State University. Since 1998 he has served as both a volunteer participant as well as facilitator of conflict resolution programming with the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) in St. Paul. Initially, while incarcerated, Mr. Deming participated in AVP programs as a way to give back to the community, but has since found conflict resolution to be a meaningful expression of his life/lifestyle.
Hank Fukui, Ph.D (Lead Facilitator, Alternatives to Violence Project)
Mr. Fukui received his Ph.D in Psychology in 1990. Since 2005 he has worked as a lead facilitator with the Alternatives to Violence Project facilitating nonviolent conflict resolution workshops. Through the use of experiential exercises, the workshops focus on communication skill development, community development, empathy, forgiveness, meditation skills, self esteem, planning skills and problem solving. Also, in 2009, Mr. Fukui became a certified facilitator with Help Increase the Peace Project (HIPP), which is a youth-focused, conflict resolution program.
Hennepin County Restorative Justice Network
Established in 2000 with the help of Restorative Justice Community Action in Minneapolis, the Hennepin County Restorative Justice Network works with a number of different local community partners in an effort to coordinate services and relationships among restorative justice programs and professionals.
