Gangs, Security Threat Groups, Terrorism and Social Networking: How do they all affect you?
Part 1: Learn about security threat groups and hybrid gangs. Are you aware that offenders in the United States are being recruited for terrorism or that Sovereign Nation offender’s file UCC Liens against government staff? This class will present updated information on STG, hybrid gangs and domestic terrorism, including the criteria used by law enforcement to recognize such offenders.
Part 2: Let’s discuss how social networking, such as Facebook, can be used to our advantage in collecting evidence from a client’s Facebook page. Learn how to set up a Facebook account, search a client’s Facebook page and capture a snapshot for evidence.
Presenter: Joyce Knowlton
Joyce is a Special Investigator of level 3 Sex Offenders for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. In 2005 Joyce received the Most Innovative use of Mapping Award from the National Institute of Justice as well as a Professional Achievement Award from the Minnesota Corrections Association in 2008. Joyce is presently a member of the Minnesota and International Criminal Intelligence Analysts, National Major Gang Task Force, Midwest Gang Investigators Association, International Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, and Minnesota Sex Crimes Investigators Association.
