Participants will define FASD, learn how prenatal alcohol consumption affects the developing fetus, explore myths and facts surrounding FASD, discuss the diagnostic process, and learn strategies to work effectively with youth, young adults and adults affected by an FASD.
Ruth Richardson is director of programs for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS). Ruth comes to MOFAS from the Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity at the City of St. Paul, where she served as Deputy Director. Ruth has a BA in History & Sociology from the University of Minnesota, and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law, recently joined Metro State as a Community Faculty Member (Adjunct) and is currently the Chair of the MN Board of Social Work.
